Inorganic Surface Coatings – Electrolytic Tin Coatings – Specifications and Test Methods. This standard specifies the requirements for electrolytic coatings of nominally pure tin on manufactured metal articles. The coatings may be matte or bright as a result of the electrolytic deposition process or may be reflowed after deposition. However, the standard does not apply to: a) threaded articles; b) tin-plated copper wire; c) coatings on sheet, strip, or wire in unprocessed form, or on articles made from such materials; d) coatings on coil springs; e) chemical coatings (e.g., immersion deposition, autocatalytic, or “electroless” deposition); f) coatings on steel with a tensile strength exceeding 1000 MPa.
