Plating on plastic

Metal layers on top of plastic contribute to corrosion protection, abrasion protection, conductivity and decorative properties

We surface treat plastics for both decorative and technical purposes. The various metal layers on top of the plastic contribute to corrosion protection, abrasion protection, conductivity and decorative characteristics.

We plate goods with the following metals; acidic copper, matte nickel, semi-gloss nickel, gloss nickel, duplex nickel and chrome. We have the option of surface treating the goods with one or multiple metals, according to your requirements.

E.g. Acid copper + Bright nickel + Chrome or Acid copper + Semi-bright nickel + Bright nickel + chrome.

The goods are pre-treated with a thin layer of palladium and chemical nickel to achieve good adhesion of the next metal, approx. 20 µm acid copper. What is plated after the acid copper is normally 20 µm nickel (additional 15 µm nickel of a different type if duplex nickel is requested) and as a final element/finish approximately 0.3 µm chrome.

If the part is to be subjected to high demands on corrosion and/or abrasion resistance (e.g. exterior car or truck decals), we recommend plating the part with duplex nickel + chrome.

If the part in question requires electrical conductivity, we have the option of plating on a top layer of tin, silver or gold (genuine gold, hard or soft gold depending on the requirements).

We also offer the option to only etch the plastic in order to create a surface suitable for powder coating or other purposes.
