Cr3+ vs Cr6+
Traditionally, Cr6 has been used to give plastic a metallic and durable surface. However, thanks to our chemical suppliers, MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions and Atotech an MKS Brand, Cr3 has now proven to be a fully viable alternative. This has enabled our investment in Cr3 – a more sustainable surface treatment.
Quality: Cr3 performs in tough environments
Chrome has long been a key component in plastic surface treatment. In the past, Cr6 was used for its high corrosion resistance and aesthetic finish, but technology has advanced. Today, Cr3 meets the toughest tests and exceeds the industry’s high standards for both durability and longevity.

About Us

Provexa Plating on Plastic in Anderstorp is Sweden’s only facility offering electrolytic surface treatment of plastic materials. The facility became part of Provexa Ytbehandling AB in February 2022.
The site specializes in applying metallic coatings to plastic components, primarily through nickel plating and chrome plating. These processes are widely used in the automotive industry to create decorative and functional surfaces with high durability and corrosion resistance.
In 2023, significant investments were made to improve energy efficiency and increase production capacity. Measures such as additional roof insulation, installation of rapid doors, and a transition from gas heating to geothermal energy have helped cut energy costs in half.
Additionally, the facility is planning a transition from hexavalent chromium to more environmentally friendly alternatives, aligning with the company’s commitment to sustainability.
The facility is IATF 16949 certified, a quality standard for the automotive industry, ensuring high standards in quality and process control.
As part of the Provexa Group, the Anderstorp facility provides customers with access to advanced laboratory services and expertise in surface treatment, enabling customized solutions that meet specific industry needs.
